DUTY MANAGER - HOTEL

This is a rare opening in our accommodation team for a natural rock star to help lead the guest experience at Sherwood.

Sherwood is one of Australasia's most progressive hospitality concepts and was recently named by Expedia guests as being in the top 10 sustainable places to stay globally . Situated on the hillside overlooking Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, our dynamic community is comprised of a 79 room hotel, busy restaurant and bar, well-being and film production studios, workshop, retail store and co-working offices. The business has a strong sustainability focus and is one of the few hotels in the world powered by the sun.

We pride ourselves on offering a unique, authentic and fun experience for the local community, and the domestic and international travelers that stay with us. Our goal is to push the boundaries of what is possible with an accommodation business and for Sherwood to be regarded as far more than just a hotel. OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Has 3 or more years experience working with guest services in a hotel reservations / front office senior role. Ideally has an excellent knowledge of Queenstown and surrounds. You'll be charismatic, full of energy, with an ability to think on your feet and use your initiative.

You'll also have a great sense of humour, be a good story teller, and love to get the very best out of the people around you.

This role suite someone who is flexible, adaptable, innovative, able to multi-task and prepared to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in no matter where the work needs to be done. You'll be interested in building community and a more sustainable future.


ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Hotel Duty Manager is responsible for the seamless delivery of our guest's experience at Sherwood including;
Receiving and processing guest reservations
Managing direct and in-direct booking sources
Oversight of the presentation of the site
Managing availability of accommodation stock
Communicating with guests pre-arrival, and post-stay
Hosting guests / media during a stay
In-room guest services and experiences
Room operations systems and processes
Integration of guest room experience with the larger Sherwood experience
Story telling
Brand and marketing contributions
Assisting with community building initiatives
Daily reporting, reconciliation and cash handling as required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Ideally you'll have suitable experience in front line tourism / hospitality role in a quality operation
Any relevant business management, tourism, marketing qualifications
Strong communications skills
An understanding (or an ability to quickly develop an understanding) of hotel guest accommodation requirements in Queenstown
Strong results orientation and a person "who gets on with it" yet is also adept at engaging others and bringing them with him/her
Resilient
An ability to deal with unanticipated problems, resolve issues and troubleshooting within a service environment
